Lofoten Mountain Guides is a guide company specializing in steep outdoor activities. Our goal is to give you a unique experience in the pristine wildness of Lofoten and hopefully teach you something of sustainable value.
Our mission is to inspire a deep connection between people and the mountains through responsible exploration, education, and genuine human relationships. We are dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of our environment while providing safe, transformative experiences that foster respect for nature, enhance outdoor skills, and create lifelong memories. By sharing our passion for the mountains, we aim to empower adventurers of all levels to appreciate the wonders of the wild and cultivate a profound understanding of the natural world and each other.

Author of the ski touring guidebook ‘Lofoten – Skiing in the Magic Islands.’
With over two decades of experience as a full-time mountain guide, Jonas knows his way around the mountains. He continues sharing his passion for skiing and climbing with students and guests.
With extensive experience guiding and conducting private expeditions worldwide, he can most likely teach you a cheeky thing or two.
Jonas is also a long-time Search and Rescue team member in Svolvær and has helped numerous stranded and injured climbers and skiers.
Certifications
Guiding
All guides are certified IFMGA Mountain Guides, Nortind Ski Guides or Aspirant Guides. Aspirant Guides will be under supervision of an IFMGA Mountain Guide.
The IFMGA is the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association. It is the highest certification for mountain Guides, and in many countries, it is legally required to work in the high mountains.

A Nortind Ski guide has undergone a rigorous educational ski program of at least three years. This is a Norwegian ski program on pair with the IFMGA ski platform.

An Aspirant Guide has passed all courses and only has the final exam(s) left.
Courses
Our courses are held by either IFMGA Mountain Guides, Nortind Ski guides, IFMGA/Nortind Aspirant Guides or NF instructors.
An NF (Norsk Fjellsportforum) instructors as gone through several national courses in his/her field.
